The World Community and World Leaders face challenges to accelerate the 2030 Sustainable development Agenda and promote inclusive Green Growth. In its 70th General Assembly in September 2015 the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 Targets for the next 15 years. All the UN member countries are committed to this global agenda for sustainable development. The 2030 global agenda for sustainable development is a planto address the persistent challenges facing the world, including poverty, growing inequalities, and environmental degradation. It is evident income gaps, coupled with insecure livelihoods and unreliable services increase the prospect of people falling below poverty lines and into poverty traps.
To join the processes of contributions in this momentous transition of global development agenda the Department of Economics under the School of Business and Economics at the United International University (UIU) is organizing an International Conference on Sustainable Development. The aim of the conference is to identify the ways to sustainability and share the empirical knowledge based upon research, practice and education. This theme emphasizes the strong foundation that is provided by using research to inform everyday practices, policies and research approaches. The conference will provide opportunities to interact with prominent leaders in the field and greatly expand on your global network of scholars and professionals.
The conference on SD provides a unique opportunity to bring together stakeholders from government, knowledge institutions, academia, international agencies, NGOs, private development sector, and grassroots organizations to share practical solutions towards achievement of more sustainable and inclusive societies. The conference also aims at creating a platform to share research based knowledge and inform policy decisions about the models of sustainable development and required paradigm shifts to deal with most important issues facing the world.
